Meds that cause hair loss and Herbal Remedies that stop grow your hair

If you saw the post about Alopecia being an attack on the body, this is sort of a continuation on the subject. Among the many resources and education I learned with being a Certified Hair Replacement Specialist was about medical interactions that caused hair loss...

Being able to treat non-genetic forms of Alopecia is a skill in itself that required that I be knowledgeable about how it could be a contraindication to the extension service.  Also, it was within the  initial consultation, if I am doing Women or Men with hair loss to be able to positively speak about possibly not being able to help them grow their hair back because of factors completely out of my control like if they were on medications...

Again, I would like to emphasize that I am not your Doctor or Health Practitioner. I am sharing my educational experience of what with the many Clients I've had done over the years and the only natural ways I've been able to utilize in the Salon on their hair to not further add chemical compounds from many of the products on the market.

Here are a list of some that may cause Hair loss:

  • Cholesterol-lowering drugs
  • Parkinson Medications
  • Ulcer Drugs
  • Anti-Coagulant's
  • Agents for Gout
  • Anti-Arthritis
  • Anti-Convulsant
  • Anti-Thyroid Agents
  • Calcium Channel Blockers
  • Beta Blockers
  • Drugs derived from Vitamin A
  • Blood Thinners
  • Most Anti-Cancer Medications
  • Anabolic Steroids

Here are some Herbal Remedies that stop Hair loss when used consistently.

Also, combing with a plant-based diet will do wonders for the body.
  • Aloe Vera does a lot of things like promote hair growth, prevent hair loss, combats sebum (oily build up) and much more. You can use as gel or mix in your conditioning treatments.
  • Ginseng is believed to stimulate blood circulation which increases blood supply to the scalp. It is effective in treating baldness and will help hair re-grow. If taking Ginseng, B6 and Zinc supplements are recommended as optimal carriers of this mineral. Topical applications of Ginseng have great results also.
  • Saw Palmetto has been known to treat baldness for age, reducing the thinning of hair and a receding hairline.  It is well known to prevent the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone which will result in quicker hair loss. There are hair loss prevention products on the market that contain this or you can buy the herb yourself and make your own hair tonic.
  • Rosemary is a powerful herb that prevents hair loss and stimulates hair growth. An infused oil on the scalp seems to be the most effective way but you can also make a tea out of it.
  • Amla (Indian Gooseberry)is rich in Vitamin C and other minerals such as phosphorus, calcium, iron, Vitamin B complex and carotene.
